VM Source Image
Before RR can create a VM, it requires a source image for a VM.
On Azure, the image has to be for example a VHD file. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VHD_(file_format) )
You have some options:
A) Start an existing rrCloud Image via rrCloudManager and modify it.
The source image can be one of our public images or one you have already setup and need to modify.
Of course this is faster and easier than to create an image from scratch.
If you use our preinstalled images:
They have rrCloudService installed, but no render application.
They can be used to render with render applications that are setup in RR as Shared Executable.
Please see RR preinstalled images for more information.
B) Create a new rrCloud image with Azure/Google/AWS.
You choose an OS yourself.
You install some RR applications.
You install all render applications that are not setup as Shared Executable in RR.
You install all plugin that are not setup as Shared Plugin in RR.
C) Convert a local VM image
It is possible to create a VM on your workstation with applications like VmWare, HyperV, VirtualPC,... .
And then to convert and copy them to the cloud.
This is not covered in this help.
